The past few weeks have been filled with many new connections and referrals. We have had 7 referrals! Volunteers have been working on getting the donated items ready to be delivered directly to the families.  Yesterday, two of them received all the basic items to start over in their apartments which happened to be in the same building!  Two more of the families’ household and furniture items are just about set to go out and another at the end of the month.  We are out of beds… if you happen to know of a source for bed donations, please let us know who to contact.

One of those familes lost everything in their storage unit because they couldn’t keep up with the bill.  With only 2 folding metal chairs in their new place, your donations will be the key in pulling some life back together for this family.

Another is a single dad with 4 teenagers. Taking custody of his kids recently, and looking for stable work is a huge stress. Especially with only a few items in his apartment.  “You don’t know how much I appreciate your help. I am so thankful. God is good.”

There was a nice turn out for our Open House and we feel that the guests have a better understanding of Reach & Restore, Inc. We are also thankful for all of the help that went into the day as it gave us motivation to finish with organizing the space which we now are calling the Reach & Restore Service Station.  The name reflects what happens there. A place where we are given the opportunity to serve the Lord by helping others in our community.

One of the things we are praying about for this year is the addition of a clothing closet. Our Service Station has potential for growth in this way and with volunteers and financial support behind it, could be a great outreach and resource for many in the area.  There is no clothing closet near many of the families we have helped.  It would fill a gap that the food shelf and other organizations aren’t offering to this area of the western suburbs. We believe our location is easily accessible to the people who use those resources. Thank you for keeping this in prayer.

Today a family was given help moving. They had arranged for their friends to help them last week and no one showed up leaving the family stranded without any other options but to ask for outside help. Their county worker referred them to us and with generous volunteer help, accomplished the job.

What an awesome witness to all involved.

We are currently helping three families search for housing. One of which is due to have a baby any day!

Another family we’ve been in touch with just had twins!  A church group has really come around this family and will be in touch with their challenges ahead. Praise God the babies and mom are doing great and will be home in a few weeks.

There is excitement around our first Open House coming up at the end of the month.  Please pray for this event as guests will finally get to see a glimpse of what God has provided for this ministry and will be a time of sharing the vision together.
