It’s been quite a journey over the past few months!  A huge thank you to our prayer supporters who lift up the concerns and celebrate God’s answers with us!

As many of you know, we’ve been waiting for an answer as it relates to expanding our ministry with a clothing closet.  Last week we learned that the Otto Bremer Foundation will be contributing to our effort to do this!  A huge thank you goes out to this Foundation and the other financial supporters who came through for Reach & Restore. We are praising God for his provision and have faith that because the door is open, the timing is right to go through it!

Last Friday, we signed a new lease in Hopkins and will be working on preparing it for our transition which will occur next month.  Many hands have offered to be involved and we pray many hearts will be changed along the way.

Last month we had our busiest month so far. 17 families were assisted. Another sure sign that this is God’s perfect timing for expansion.

We know how to explain why a recliner is donated and shortly thereafter there is a request for one. When it’s delivered to the recipient with degenerative back problems who says “How did you know what color my pillows were! The chair matches perfectly and I don’t ever want to get up from it! God Bless You.”

It’s a GOD thing… and without Him, what’s the point?

We point to Him.

Happy New Year!

What a beautiful end to 2009.  A dozen families were delivered help at Christmas and what a blessing to hear the stories of both the receiver and the giver.  “It is more blessed to give than receive”.

We know this New Year will bring us many new families to connect with and see how God can use something small to do something big.

“Rock On! I’m … overwhelmed.  Can you take a picture of me with this?”

“Do you remember the story of Jesus and the fish? How he had just a little bit and he multiplied it to feed many?  That’s what happened to us reminded me of.  The food that was given to us at Christmas was enough to feed our whole family at Christmas!  It was a wonderful Christmas. I wanted to tell you that I recommitted my life to the Lord too!”

“I was just sitting here wondering what I was going to do. It’s my birthday today and I was awake all night. Yesterday I was told that I got laid off.  God is so good!  Now I can sit somewhere other than my bed and sit at a table to eat!”

These are just a few of the quotes heard because people stepped outside of their world to reach another.

Thank you for contributing to Reach & Restore!

You may have been curious what has been happening lately? Praying… and Waiting.

We’ve got a great bunch of clothes to start the expansion of a clothing closet ministry but are waiting to hear if our current location will work or not. A proposal has been made but now there is another potential renter. The Board believes that God will open the right door for R&R. Trusting and depending is where God wants us to be and all we can do is know He will provide the right space at the right time.

Clothing has been requested for back to school time by multiple families we’ve helped. Reach & Restore was blessed with some larger household donations last week and we’ve been busy putting them away and pulling items out for families who are waiting for our help. Many people will be impacted by these practical items very soon.

What a joy to hear that one of our “swimmer” friends received full custody of her son! An answer to prayer.

Our R&R Cookbook is being printed and should be ready to sell in September! We are looking forward to sharing it with you and appreciate all the recipe contributions and planning committee efforts. Stay tuned for details.

Quote of the month : “I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart”. R&R Swimmer
